This position is part of the National Archives and Records Administration.Incumbent serves as Staff Assistant at a Presidential Library and Museum within the National Archives and Records Administration. The incumbent provides administrative and support duties for the Presidential Library and Museum staff.
Duties
As a STAFF ASSISTANT, you will:
Assists the Library Director, Deputy Director, and/or Administrative Officer in performing a variety of financial and budget administration, personnel, and administrative functions. Independently collect data, research files, assemble background material, compile chronologies and perform basic analysis in formulating recommendations.
Assists the Director, Deputy Director, and Administrative Officer in making all necessary travel arrangements for staff, making reservations for transportation and accommodations, notifying organization and officials to be visited, advising staff on travel regulations, policies, procedures, and preparing necessary travel documents, vouchers and reports.
Assists the Director, Deputy Director, and Administrative Officer in procuring supplies, equipment, repair and maintenance services as requested or on own initiative based on library-museum needs.
Initiate and perform a variety of personnel duties related to recruiting, selecting, security clearance requests, credentialing, Workman's Compensation claims, and on-the-job injuries, prepares SF-52 actions, etc.
Answer main phone line and direct calls to the appropriate departments. Sort and distribute incoming mail and process postage for outgoing mail and packages.
Qualifications
You must meet the following requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement.
For the GS-06, you must have one year of specialized experience equivalent at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes:
-Performing administrative tasks in support of a team or office;
AND
- Helping with Time and Attendance processes;
AND
- Assisting with researching items and information to be used in financial or cost benefit decision-making.
In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable:
For the GS-06, you must have been at the GS-05level for 52 weeks.
