This is a term, grant-funded, position called RECAP (Redefining Elder Care in America Program) in Geriatrics & Extended Care Service at CAVHS. The PSA position requires superior interpersonal skills. The incumbent's major duties include working closely with the RECAP RN Coordinator to schedule telephone appointments, update Excel Spreadsheets, filter PLI (risk tool) for potential RECAP participants, call Veterans and caregivers, answer phone calls, and promote community engagement.
Duties
Major duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Comprehensive administrative/clerical support; screens/reviews incoming correspondence and determines deadlines and routes appropriately; prepares/mails correspondence.
Makes telephone calls; sends letters/faxes.
Scheduler; makes appointments, checks in/out, ensures no-shows/cancellations updated.
Receives and processes document and reports; review documents for completeness and enter pertinent information into an automated tracking system.
Establishes protocols for incoming data, organizes computerized data sets, and retrieves computerized data.
Serves as primary and/or alternate timekeeper for various time and leave units, performing all associated duties in an accurate and timely manner.
Performs work of a general office support nature independently which encompasses a variety of different duties and responsibilities such as filing, maintains records and logs, calendars, and other miscellaneous duties.
Skill in oral and written communication in order to communicate with a wide variety of persons such as staff; VA officials, and outside groups via telephone calls, letters, memos, etc.
Establishes and maintains both a paper filing system and a computerized database for accounting records.
Uses multiple Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Publisher.
Creates and maintains Excel spreadsheets for accounting purposes.
All other duties assigned by management.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:30am to 4:00pm; Subject to change based on the needs of the facility.

Physical Requirements: The work does not require physical labor. However, extensive walking may be required throughout, attending meetings etc. You may be required to lift/carry light objects: folders, books, telephones, office supplies.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
GS-07 grade level: One year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-06 grade level in the federal service); experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities (KSA's) and other characteristics to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled, in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Specialized experience includes: timekeeping experience; scheduling experience; TMS coordinating experience; Purchase Card Holder experience; and communication skills that can translate to providing a safe and nurturing "adult" environment, socialization, and community interactions with Veterans needing assistance during the day. This experience must be supported by your resume to be creditable.
There is no educational substitution for the GS-07 level.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
