The position is located at the Central Arkansas Veterans Healthcare System (CAVHS). The purpose of this position is to develop, coordinate, and/or provide oversite of all administrative functions within the Safety and Occupational Health Office. This includes ensuring all reports and correspondence requiring action are completed in a timely manner and in accordance with agency and regulatory requirements.

Duties

Duties: Performs a variety of duties related to the administration of the Safety and Occupational Health program. Duties include meeting deadlines, drafting documents with specified formats and reviewing materials to gather changes and additions to the program. Incumbent performs the duties of a Government-wide Purchase Card Program cardholder in support of their Service/Department/Product Service Line. Verifies funds availability prior to making purchases and ensures receipt of goods ordered. Safeguards the purchase card at all times. Updates support requirements (e.g., personnel, equipment and facilities) for the operation of the program. Receives telephone calls and determines which call can be responded to personally and which should be directed elsewhere upon receipt of necessary background information. Performs a variety of administrative and technical duties to ensure compliance with Safety and Occupational Health programs. This position develops, coordinates, and/or provides oversite of all administrative functions. This includes ensuring all reports and correspondence requiring action are completed in a timely manner and in accordance with agency and regulatory requirements. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 7:00a-3:30p (subject to change based on the needs of the agency) Telework: VA supports the use of telework as a way to help attract and retain talented individuals in public service, increase worker productivity, and better prepare the agency to operate during emergencies. Qualifications

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 11/04/2024. Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-7 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-6. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment. You may qualify based on your experience as described below: Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-6 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Experience with the responsibility of providing administrative support functions within a healthcare facility; Experience with procurement processes necessary to obtain goods and services for an office; Experience performing automation duties using such software applications such as word processing, spreadsheet, electronic mail, desktop publishing, calendar, database and/or graphics; Experience assisting in the formulation and execution of budget estimates to include updating budget spreadsheets which are used in briefings; collecting, compiling and tracking data and information; Experience researching reference materials, regulations, and standards to identify appropriate action necessary to correct problems or issues. . You will be rated on the following Competencies for this position: Administration and ManagementBudget AdministrationClericalCustomer Service (Clerical/Technical) Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment. Physical Requirements: Incumbent must be in generally fit condition to do a complex variety of duties. Work is sedentary; some light physical effort may be required.
