Duties

Serves as a crew leader for personnel assigned to maintain the golf course roughs and fairways. Ability to lead employees engaged in technical work related to this position. Trains new employees to perform tasks and ensures work and training assignments of the group led are carried out. Responsible for the construction and maintenance of drainage systems required on the golf course. Knowledge of the operating characteristics of the tractor. Responsible for operation and training for special purpose equipment such as backhoe and other ditch digging equipment. Maintains a current knowledge and understanding of fertilization and seeding procedures for roughs and fairways, trims greens, changes cups on greens, waters grass, rakes traps, and transplants shrubs and plants as required. Ability to operate tractor and riding mower on various soil conditions, and manipulate both tractor and equipment controls at the same time, and theability to operate boom slope while operating the tractor on level ground or along roads. Ability to do the work of the position under normal supervision, and demonstrate work experience directly related to the duties and skills described above. Ability to interpret, instructions, specifications, etc. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• PHYSICAL EFFORT: The work requires frequent walking, standing, bending, and stooping. Incumbent must be willing and able to frequently lifts or carry objects weighing up to 50 lbs. and occasionally heavier.
• PHYSICAL REQUIREMENT: Incumbent must be physically capable of lifting supplies and materials up to 100 pounds.
• PHYSICAL REQUIREMENT: Incumbent must be able to work under the following conditions: frequent arm and leg movements to operate tractor controls, and exposure to pollen and chemical fumes, weather extremes, and possible cuts and bruises.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: 1. Ability to do the work of the position under normal supervision, and demonstrate work experience directly related to the duties and skills described above. 2. Ability to lead employees engaged in technical work related to this position. Ability to interpret, instructions, specifications, etc. To meet the Highly Preferred you must meet all minimum and highly preferred qualifications. Highly Preferred applicants will be sent to management first. Highly Preferred: 1. Ability to lead and line out work and assignments for a crew of 8-10 laborers. AND 2. Knowledge of sports fields, dimensions and ability to string a field from scratch. AND 3. Comfortable with teaching and instructing the safe handling of a variety of lawn and tractor equipment used to maintain playing surfaces.
