This is a temporary, Intermitent, Seasonal position NTE 15 Nov 2024, 72 hours per pay period. This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

Duties

Operate a field type tractor and attached or towed mower or cutter bar. Exercise skill and judgement to compensate for differing surface conditions, rocks protruding above ground and covered with high grass. Perform adjustments and minor maintenance on equipment. Work on steep grades or uneven ground while pulling and manipulating various implements such as cutter bar. Maintain records and document actions, such as operator inspection checklists. Select routes and obey all traffic laws and safety regulations when operating a Tractor. Follow all established safety rules and regulations for motor vehicles, riding mowers, and tractors. Manipulate hand and foot controls to stop, start and maneuver tractors.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Position requires wear of uniform and/or protective gear.
  • Incumbent is subject to a medical clearance examination prior to employment. Further physical requirements include full use of all limbs, joints, muscles, vision, hearing, etc.
  • This position has a requirement to lift up to 100 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
  • This position requires the incumbent to work on an intermittent or unscheduled, on-call basis.
  • The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Tractor Operator~ without more than normal supervision. Ability to perform common operation of a field type tractor and attached or towed mower or cutter bar, perform adjustments and minor maintenance on equipment operated and assist in changing tires. Skilled in operating equipment in confined areas and varying terrain and work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision (Screen-out Element) Physical Effort: Work requires frequent arm and leg movements to operate tractors and mowing equipment. Additional effort is required in operating the tractor and manipulating the equipment controls when operating on steep slopes and in rough terrain. Must be able to lift and handle heavy equipment attachments. May also lift materials weighing up to 100 pounds on occasion. Working Conditions: Work is performed on steep slopes and in rough terrain and may be subject to injury from falls or overturned tractors and equipment. Work can be performed indoors and outdoors involving exposure to temperature extremes. Exposed to noise, dust and dirt and possibility of bruises, cuts and scrapes.
