You will serve as a Secretary (Office Automation) in the Naval Center for Space Technology of NAVAL RESEARCH LABORATORY.
Duties
You will serve as the executive administrator and personal assistant to the Director, Naval Center for Space Technology.
You will keep informed of the content and progress of programs and activities by maintenance and review of the Directorate files.
You will receive telephone calls and personally greet visitors.
You will receive incoming mail and determine distribution, screen out and process as needed, and route technical correspondence to subordinate organization affected.
You will obtain information for the Director involving researching files and records as well as obtaining information verbally from a variety of resources.
You will keep the Director's calendar and schedule appointments and conferences without prior clearance.
You will develop and implement office procedures.
You will prepare travel requests and make local, national, and international travel arrangements for the Director.
You will manage and detailed schedule in a fast-paced, changing environment
You will organize the flow of clerical processes in an office.
You will compose, review, and edit non-technical correspondence.
You will have the knowledge of Microsoft PowerPoint or willing to learn.
You will have the knowledge of office automation equipment and software including all Microsoft Office products such as PowerPoint, Word, and Excel.
Requirements

- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-05/07) or pay band (NC-02) in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing most or all of the following: (1) Managing and providing administrative support involving essential high level and critical activities that require planning, development, and execution of tasks essential to upper management; (2) Acting as a liaison for offices that report directly to upper management as well as various agencies outside the department, both in private industry and other government agencies; (3) Maintaining a very complex schedule for management while coordinating meetings with internal and external personnel; and (4) Reading incoming publications, regulations, and directives that may be important to the activities of upper management
This position requires the ability to type at least 40 words per minute. Your response to the typing skill question on the Occupational Questionnaire will be used in your qualification determination.
