This position is located in the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), Office of Program Operations and Local Engagement(OPOLE), Innovation & Financial Management (IFM).
As a Supervisory Health Insurance Specialist, GS-0107-14, you will serve as a supervisory specialist responsible for the activities of directing, coordinating, integrating, and leading staff and work functions regarding CMS program policy management activities.
Duties
Directs the work of Health Insurance Specialists and Nurse Consultants.
Plans work to be accomplished by subordinates, sets and adjusts short-term priorities, and prepares schedules for completion of work.
Directs Medicare program safeguard and program management activities through working relationships with contractors, providers, physicians, beneficiaries, and Federal/State agencies, as well as local and national organizations and individuals.
Serves as a focal point for Medicare program integrity operations and policy working with the Payment Safeguard Contractor and law enforcement agencies on fraud referrals.
Directs the development of all policy and operational efforts and provides support for the oversight of Medicare Administrative Contractors, assists in the management of the Medicare program integrity contractors.

In order to qualify for the GS-14, you must meet the following: You must demonstrate in your resume at least one year (52 weeks) of qualifying specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal government, obtained in either the private or public sector, to include: 1) Planning, directing, and evaluating health care program activities; AND 2) Developing program goals, including making short and long-range program plans; AND 3) Evaluating contractor performance activities or the work performance of staff addressing deficient performance findings in order to resolve identified problems.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Time-in-Grade: To be eligible, current or former Federal employees and current or former Federal employees applying under the VEOA eligibility who hold or have held a permanent General Schedule position in the previous year must have served at least 52 weeks (one year) at the next lower grade level from the position/grade level(s) to which they are applying.
