About the Position: Serves as a Health Technician (Anesthesia) providing specialized technical support in the management of the evaluation, ordering, and maintenance of the technical equipment in the Department of surgery at Evans Army Community Hospital (EACH), Fort Carson, CO.

Duties

Serve as Administrative Assistant. Serve as Quality Improvement Equipment Control Officer. Procure all non-standard medical supplies and equipment. Ensure that internal control systems meet prescribed standards and regulations. Perform Anesthesia Technician functions.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment physical examination.
  • This position is a Testing Designated Position (TDP) subject to a pre-employment drug screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
  • This position is Inclement Weather Essential. This means that you must be willing to make every attempt to report for duty on time and/or remain on duty during severe weather conditions.
  • This position has a mandatory Hepatitis B immunization and an immunization screening requirement.
  • This position requires heavy lifting up to 100 lbs with assistance.
  • This is a mission essential position performing a Mission-Critical function which must continue uninterrupted after the occurrence of an emergency and continue through full resumption of all functions.
  • This position is subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations. Applicants tentatively selected for this position will be required to sign a statement consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.
  • Incumbent must possess finger dexterity in both hands, and hand/eye coordination.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service, which includes ordering, stocking, and maintaining medical supplies; demonstrated experience in techniques and procedures before, during and following surgery; and the knowledge of techniques and procedures used in preparing and administering anesthetic agents to patients undergoing surgery or other medical procedures. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05 OR Education: One full year of graduate level education leading to a master's degree or an internship related to the occupation, such as Nursing, Respiratory therapy, Biology, etc. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: ClericalInventory ManagementMedical Supply Inventory ManagementOral CommunicationTechnical Competence Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-05).
