Duties
As a Deputy Regional Administrator, you will:
Assist the RA in his/her role as HUD's senior agency representative and management official for his/her assigned region, and provide overall leadership and accountability in furthering HUD's mission and goals, and in ensuring the regional office and field offices and key operations are aligned with the Departmental Strategic Plan, which also includes outreach efforts, and the timely and effective delivery of HUD programs and services to the communities and residents of a defined geographical area that is composed of a multi-state and/or highly populated region.
Assist the RA in his/her responsibility to provide overall leadership for the region, that includes instilling mutual trust and confidence, creating and maintaining a culture that promotes a positive work environment for the employees, fostering high standards of ethics, and ensuring management behaves in a fair, ethical, and professional manner toward the employees.
Assist the RA in promoting a results-oriented performance culture, and provides related leadership and support in the development, prioritization, and commitment of regional office resources.
When authorized by the RA, the DRA represents the RA and/or the Secretary with Congressional delegations, governors, mayors, other state or locally elected officials, HUD customer groups, public and private interest groups, and media (in accordance with Departmental protocol).
Qualifications
You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
Specialized Experience: For the GS-15 grade level, you must have one year (52 full weeks) of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-14 grade level in the Federal service.
Specialized Experience for this position includes:
Managing housing, community, or economic programs in rural/urban areas or persons living in poverty areas; AND
Planning, implementing, coordinating, or communicating protocols or strategic plans in preparation for disasters; AND
Collaborating with elected Federal, State, or local officials, representatives of industry, and general clientele and recommending solutions to housing, community, or economic issues.
Experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis.
