Duties
In this position as a Marine Inspector Training Officer (MITO), you will be responsible for implementation and management of the unit's Marine Inspector/Port State Control Officer (MI/PSCO) training program, and subject matter expert providing technical expertise and training leadership in the compliance duties of marine safety, vessel inspection, pollution prevention and vessel manning laws, regulations, treaties, and international conventions.

Qualifications
You qualify for the GS-13 grade level if you possess one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the federal sector performing duties such as:
Serving as a National Verifying Officer (VO) for Marine Inspector (MI)/Port State Control Officer (PSCO).
Serving as MI/PSCO training and qualification resource and mentor for nearby Non-Feeder Ports assigned to the unit.
Delivering briefing papers, technical analyses, training, and qualification analysis for the Officer-in-Charge, Marine Inspection, where inspection decisions may have broad impact on an industry, are controversial in nature or are expected to be appealed to higher authority.
Conducting technical reviews of vessel's plans, safety management systems and operating systems to determine compliance with regulations and applicable standards.
Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.
