This position will operate within the Veteran Transportation Service (VTS) within Business Office Service at the VA Roseburg Health Care System in Roseburg, Oregon.
Duties

Major duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Performs work involving consult management, appointment, scheduling and admissions scheduling;
Reviews documents, reports and/or applications for omissions and inconsistencies, and ensures data entry is complete and accurate;
Enters pertinent information into an automated tracking system;
Maintains automated system of program-specific data to track items;
Schedules routes for assigned drivers, manages the Route Match program management software, coordinates vehicle maintenance with Engineering Service, coordinates travel/transportation arrangements as needed with local Emergency Management Services (EMS), Disabled American Veterans (DAV) and other medical facilities; and
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00a.m. to 4:30p.m.

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions: Incumbent will be exposed to stressful working situations that will require a mature attitude and collective reasoning to overcome. The incumbent is subject to a great deal of stress because of the high volume of work, the need for accuracy, frequency of interruptions and ever changing demands due to program changes. Duties will be predominantly performed in the Command/Call Center Offices with intermittent trips to various locations throughout the Medical Center both in and near patient care areas where there is a risk of exposure to disease.
Qualifications
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE GS-6: You must have at least one (1) full year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the Transportation Assistant position, and that is typically in or related to the work of this position? To be creditable, this experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-5 grade level in Federal Service. Specialized experience includes: performing transportation support duties such as coordinating connections/scheduling, documenting travel information, ensuring compliance with travel policies and procedures, entering travel data into automated tracking data bases, generating travel reports, investigating problems, expediting travel paperwork timely, responding to recurring travel-related questions, and performing clerical support responsibilities. NOTE: Experience must be fully documented on your resume and must include job title; duties; month and year start/end dates AND hours worked per week.
