You will serve as a Electronic Industrial Control Mechanic in the Facility and Plant Main Division, Facility and Infrastructure Management Department of FLTREADCEN SOUTHEAST.

Duties

You will diagnose and isolate the nature and extent of system failures with little technical guidance. You will maintain and repair state-of-the art industrial electronically controlled multi-integrated systems and equipment. You will advise engineering personnel on proposed system upgrades and modifications. You will serve as an electronics expert and/or senior member in the installation, maintenance, repair and operation of major computer/electronically controlled systems and equipment introduced into facility. You will assist in the acceptance or rejection of new systems introduced into the Depot.

  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • Works with equipment usually weighing less than 50 pounds.
  • Required to work from ladders, lifts and catwalks up to 40 feet high and in awkward positions in cramped quarters; usually from standing or crouching positions.
  • You will be required to possess sound or corrected vision and color recognition sufficient to recognize and define color coded components.

The Screen-out Element for this position is: Ability to do the work of the position without more than normal supervision: 1) Applying extensive theoretical and practical knowledge of operation, capabilities, and limitations of electronic control equipment and systems; 2) Reading, interpreting and applying flow charts, truth tables, electrical/electronic schematics and mechanical/hydraulic blueprints; recognizing the relationship of physical components and devices to these diagrams and applying verbal and/or sketched ideas to systems modifications; 3) Developing skills leading to certification as a solderer due to the minute and fragile components which must be unsoldered and resoldered within the system control; 4) Adapting troubleshooting and repair techniques to newly installed or modified systems often incorporating unusual circuitry with limited or no technical information; 5) Utilizing electronic and other test equipment required for the trade.
