This position is located in the Department of Health and Human Services, Administration for Strategic Preparedness and Response, Office of Medical Countermeasures Program Support Services, Workforce Operations Branch, located in Washington, District of Columbia. **This announcement will be open for 10 business days OR until the first 100 applications have been received, whichever happens first.**

Duties

The purpose of this position is for the incumbent to serve as a Staff Assistant to the Branch Chief. The incumbent's primary responsibility is to provide general travel program management support to BARDA staff for travel. Advises and provides guidance to ASPR personnel on proper travel management practices, recognizes deviations or unauthorized practices, and proposes solutions to new and unusual travel management problems that ensures compliance with existing regulations. Performs administrative management functions that service and/or fulfill a number of organizational requirements. Sets priorities and objectives to improve and establish work methods and controls. Analyzes and resolves problems in administrative support and staff activities. Develops methods and procedures for administrative processes for application across the branch. Monitors correspondence and action documents to ensure that responses are prepared and deadlines are met. Personally, composes memoranda and letters in accord with the supervisor's directions. Serves as a resource person and central repository of information on ongoing activities and assignments within the office.

Qualifications

Applicants must demonstrate that they meet the Specialized Experience requirements as noted below. Specialized Experience: GS-12: You must possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and responsibility to the GS-11 level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors) performing 3 of the 4 duties listed below: Providing administrative support functions to include management of arranging travel and preparing travel authorizations in compliance with travel regulations; Analyzing and resolving problems in administrative support and staff activities; Utilizing evaluation techniques and administrative concepts and practices to make administrative recommendations aimed at improving effectiveness of the office; Developing memorandums, reports, recommendations, proposals, etc., which are clear, thorough in details, and convey desired information. Time-in-Grade Requirement: Under competitive merit promotion procedures, any individual who is currently holding, or who has held within the previous 52 weeks, a General Schedule position under non-temporary appointment in the competitive or excepted service, must meet "time-in-grade" requirements (have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade of the grade for which you are applying). You must include an SF-50 (you may need to submit more than one) that supports meeting this requirement with your application package.
