The Office of Accident Investigation and Prevention is the principal organization within the FAA with respect to aircraft accident investigation and all activities related to the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB). Our mission is to make air travel safer through investigation, data collection, risk analysis, and information sharing.

Duties

The incumbent serves as an Aviation Accident Investigator in the Accident Investigation & Recommendations Division, Accident Investigation Branch, and as such, performs around-the-clock operations of time critical accident and incident investigations.

Requirements

  • US Citizenship is required.
  • Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
  • Must submit an SF50 (See Required Documents)
  • Designated or Random Drug Testing required.

Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position.Specialized experience includes: Experience gained while performing duties and responsibilities associated with any of the following; Airline Transport Pilot, Aerospace Engineer, Air Traffic Controller, Aviation Safety Inspector, and/or Airframe and Power-plant Mechanic or equivalent experience and the application of this experience investigating aviation accidents, incidents, malfunctions or failures with an emphasis on identifying risks and hazards. Experience influencing stakeholders by communicating clear and concise technical and controversial topics to a variety of technical and non-technical audiences, to include senior leaders, in multiple formats to include verbal and non-verbal modes. Experience influencing changes to policy, guidance, practices, and/or legislation.Eligible applicants meeting the minimum qualification requirements and selective factor(s), if applicable, may be further evaluated on the Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA) listed in the announcement.
