As a General Attorney (Civil Rights) at the GS-0905-14, you will be part of Office of General Counsel, Immed Office, Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. The incumbent will provide the primary legal assistance and legal representation to the Commission and its officials in litigation brought by Commission employees and in administrative matters to be adjudicated under the procedures of various administrative forums.
Duties
Duties may include but are not limited to: Prepare briefs and conduct hearings in administrative forums, and collaborate with US Attorneys on litiation matters in federal court.
Conduct legal research and analysis of factual and legal issues. Develop legal arguments and strategies. Participate in all necessary judicial conferences and administrative hearings.
Prepare documents necessary to litigation matters, including motions, memoranda and petitions. Review proposed Commission regulations, policies, guidelines, and directives on internal procedures.
Provide formal and informal legal advice to agency management. Collaborate with Office of the Chief Human Capital Officer on union matters, including arbitrations and unfair labor practices.
Requirements

- Suitable for Federal employment, determined by a background investigation
- May be required to successfully complete a probationary period
- Must have an Active BAR Membership in Good Standing. If selected, must maintain active bar membership in good standing while employed as an attorney with EEOC
- This position is in the Excepted Service
Qualifications
For the GS-14:You must have earned a professional law degree (J.D. or LL.B.) from a law school accredited by the American Bar Association, be an active member of the BAR, and have three years of professional legal experience with at least one year being equivalent to the GS-13 level.
Professional legal education above the first professional law degree may be substituted for experience required as follows:(a) The second professional law degree (LL.M) may be substituted for one year of experience (b) The third law degree (J.S.D) may be substituted for one year of experience beyond the LL.M.
