The purpose of this position is to provide technical and administrative supervision of the
Housekeeping Department comprised of 5 Housekeeping Aid and 2 Motor Vehicle Operators. Incumbent will ensure maintenance of environmental sanitation within acceptable levels of bacteriological of visual and cleanliness within the health center. This position is located at the Housekeeping Department, THC, Tsaile, AZ.
Duties

Plans use of staff, equipment, tools and facilities on a daily basis.
Assigns and coordinates workload and provide technical direction and/or help in accomplishing the work goals. Inspects work for quality and work order requirements.
Train subordinates in routine cleaning procedures using approved cleaning and disinfection techniques and methods. Trains in proper use of equipment, proper handling of soil/contaminated linen and precautionary measures to protect staff, patients, visitors and other employees.
Manages the overall operations of the department such as performance rating, training, disciplinary actions and compliance with environmental sanitation standards and regulations. Plans, approves and establishes work schedule.
Qualifications
To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
BASIC REQUIREMENT(S):
Skills and knowledge:
Must have thorough knowledge and skill to meet stringent biological control standards designed to yield safe and in some places asepsis ecological environment.
Must have knowledge of harmful bacteria compounds.
Must have thorough knowledge and skill of proper technique for protecting self and patients from these pathogenic agents.
Must know special procedures to be used in super clean areas.
Must possess the ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written manner.
Physical Effort: Heavy physical effort is required continuously in performance of manual cleaning tasks. Frequently must lift or move objects weighing about 40 pounds and occasionally objects weighing over 50 pounds. Use of heavy powered cleaning equipment (industrial-type buffers, carpet extractors) is required, but not on a continual basis.
Working Condition: Usually works indoors, in areas which normally have adequate heat, light and ventilation. Occasionally is exposed to skin irritations from strong cleaning solutions used in stripping floors, etc. and to serious injuries from falls from ladders and scaffolds.
In addition to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
WS2: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: such as having the ability to or provide first level supervision. Manages overall Housekeeping operations and to be in compliance with environmental sanitation standards and regulations.
SUPERVISORY AND MANAGERIAL ABILITIES: Candidates must have demonstrated in their work experience or training that they possess, or have the potential to develop, the qualities of successful supervision, as listed under the appropriate category below:
Ability to motivate, train and work effectively with subordinates who have a variety of background and training.
Ability to accomplish the quality and quantity of work expected with set limits of cost and time.
Ability to plan own work and carry out assignments effectively.
Ability to communicate with others effectively, both orally and in writing, in working out solutions to problems or questions related to work.
Ability to understand and further manage goals as these affect day-to-day work operations.
Ability to develop improvements in or design new work methods and procedures.
Time In Grade
Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP).
