This position is for a Program Support Assistant in the Pharmacy Service at the Ralph H. Johnson VA Medical Center. The incumbent is responsible for coordination, planning, and implementation of various administrative management duties and clinical service support in the setting of a complex multi-specialty service.

Duties

Major duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following: Provides administrative skills in planning, determining priorities, compiling reports, problem solving and organization. Builds reports from clinic management dashboards, interprets data and communicates findings to pharmacy leadership and staff. Communicates clinic practice and management information to appropriate pharmacy personnel. Prepares and tracks all requirements for Focused Professional Performance Evaluations (FPPE)/Ongoing Professional Practice Evaluations (OPPE), scopes of practice (SOP) and credentialing and privliges. Monitor, identify, and resolve clinic practice management discrepancies such as audio care, consults, patient appointments, open encounters, and return to clinic orders. Works as a liaison between clinical pharmacy staff, informatics staff, and patients for appointment reminders or cancellations, and recalls or shortages. Develops and maintains an electronic system for tracking assigned tasks and provides regular updates to the service chief, management officials, and hiring managers. Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, 07:30 AM to 04:00 PM. Virtual: This is not a virtual position. Qualifications

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 08/28/2023. Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-07 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-06. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment. You may qualify based on your experience as described below: Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-06 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Experience with clinic scheduling and clinical services support such as audio care, consults, patient appointments, open encounters, and return to clinic orders; Experience with planning, determining priorities, compiling reports, submitting paperwork, problem-solving and organization; Possess a foundation of administrative concepts, principles and practices that are sufficient to perform independently; Proficient in both oral and written communications, adequate to represent the pharmacy service, as well as other departments in the medical center; Experience in a work setting developing reports, conference handouts, charts, research papers, presentations and service policies; Firm understanding and experience using technology and/or software such as Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, SharePoint, Adobe, and other software that is necessary to produce high quality and creative products required by the office. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment. Physical Requirements: The basic responsibilities of this position are office based and involve mainly sitting and computer type work. In addition, it involves visits to other services to turn in needed paperwork and/or give/get feedback on how to proceed in a project affecting Pharmacy Service. Light to moderate work is required to include the receipt and stocking of office supplies, packing and relocation of records boxes, and the distribution of mail correspondence to pharmacy employees.
