The employee will serve as a Health System Specialist, at the VA Central Iowa Health Care System, in Des Moines, IA. The employee serves as the Patient Experience Coordinator and is responsible for all functions relate to patient experience matters including patient experience efforts, policies and activities.

Duties

***THIS IS NOT A VIRTUAL POSITION, YOU MUST LIVE WITHIN OR BE WILLING TO RELOCATE WITHIN A COMMUTABLE DISTANCE OF THE DUTY LOCATION*** Duties include, but may not be limited to the following: Develop materials related to patient experience for distribution throughout the facility, to patients, families and staff. Report and document routine summaries related to patient and family concerns to include using this information to develop responses and action plans. Provide reports about patient experience data to leadership, designated committees and/or departments within the hospital. Navigate multiple data sources to review to include providing comprehensive analysis and making recommendations. Educate managers and front-line staff in the techniques of patient experience. Collaborate with stakeholders to review patient experience data and develop action plans to improve patient experience. Lead, coordinate and monitor the continuous improvement of patient experience. Conduct workshops, seminars and other meetings to various levels of staff to explain and/or improve patient experience. Perform other related duties as required. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:30 am - 4:00 pm Recruitment & Relocation Incentives: Not authorized. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must possess one (1) year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular knowledge, skill, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of this position, and that is typically in or related to the work of this position? To be creditable, this experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-9 level in the Federal service. Specialized experience is progressively responsible analytical or administrative, or clinical management or supervisory experience in the health care field. This work may have been performed in an operating health care facility or a higher organizational echelon with advisory or directional authority over such facilities. Work must have involved a close working relationship with facility managers and analysis and/or coordination of administrative, clinical, or other service activities, and provided knowledge of the following: (a) Missions, organizations, programs, and requirements of health care delivery systems; (b) Regulations and standards of various regulatory and credentialing groups; (c) Government-wide, agency, and facility systems and requirements in various administrative areas such as budget, personnel and procurement. Preferred experience in: healthcare, patient experience, data analysis and data interpretation. OR SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED) - Applicants must possess three (3 ) full years of progressively higher level graduate leading to such a degree in a major study such as hospital administration, public health administration, or related fields such as business or public administration with course work in health care administration; or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or LL.M, if related which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of this position. OR COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED) - Combination of successfully completed graduate education and experience may be used to meet total qualification requirements. NOTE: Only graduate education beyond the second year may be used to qualify. You will be rated on the following Competencies as part of the assessment questionnaire for this position: Customer ServiceInterpersonal EffectivenessReading Comprehension IMPORTANT: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. All experience listed on your resume must include the month and year start/end dates. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Physical Requirements: The regular and recurring work of this position is sedentary in nature and involves sitting at a desk, conferences, meetings, etc., and visits to facility work sites. Occasional use of automobile and public conveyances may be required. No special physical exertion is required.
