About the Position: Fort Drum, the home of the 10th Mountain Division (Light Infantry), is located in Northern New York, a historically unique and geographically beautiful area, offering bountiful outdoor recreational opportunities from hunting and fishing to winter sports of all types. Fort Drum is approximately 30 miles from Canada, with the Great Lakes to the west, the Adirondack Mountains to the east, and the St. Lawrence River and Thousand Islands in between.
Duties
Receive, review, and process all correspondence and documents transmitted through the organization for review, approval, and/or signature establishing controls and/or suspense's on items requiring attention.
Perform administrative processes and program functions using automated systems such as AutoNoa, ATAAPS, etc to retrieve personnel management data, to identify personnel action requirements, and to track a variety of personnel related events.
Maintain liaison with other installation activities and serves as a point of contact with the Civilian Personnel Advisory Center and the Directorate of Resource Management.
Respond to personnel action requests or inquiries from management, recommend where to apply manpower authorization increases/decreases based on evaluative judgment and application of established policies and priorities.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
- Temporary Duty (TDY) of 5% is required for this position.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Specialized experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) receiving visitors and telephone calls; referring to proper person or furnishing requested information 2) utilizing a variety of human resources automated systems such as Defense Civilian Personnel Data System (DCPDS); 3) performing administrative duties such as preparing personnel action requests, correspondence, or manpower authorizations. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).
Proficiency Required:This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06).
