This position is located with the Physical Support Branch located in Jersey City, Hudson County, New Jersey.
Duties
Perform a variety of basic preparatory tasks by assisting higher graded mechanics in the repair and maintenance of heavy mobile equipment.
Perform tasks related to maintenance and inspection, modification, and repair of marine systems.
Remove units and/or subassemblies such as pumps, generators, heat exchangers, batteries, etc.
Secure tools and replacement parts.
Clean and lubricate parts, tighten bolts, remove/replace propellers and bilge pumps, change engine oil, etc.
Properly prepare and apply marine paint and coatings on large systems.
Perform a variety of building maintenance.
Operate forklift trucks, bobcat loaders, and sweepers in support of duties.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Lift / carry up to 50lbs.
- Requires a pre-employment physical.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a Heavy Mobile Equipment Mechanic Helper without more than normal supervision, to include maintenance and repair of marine equipment; cleaning and painting; and operation of material handling vehicles; basic use of hand tools.
