About the Position: The Alaska District is seeking to fill an Interdisciplinary position located in the Denali Office Engineering Section. An ideal candidate will have strong experience in Environmental Regulations as they relate to construction projects. Candidate should possess an in-depth knowledge of environmental regulations, codes, and laws, and their applicability to active construction projects of various complexity, size and location.
Duties
Serves as the technical expert and point of contact within the Resident Office on the environmental and chemical aspects of the Resident office environmental compliance, cleanup/restoration mission.
Reviews remedial investigations, feasibility studies and remedial designs to ensure appropriate criteria and methods for sampling and testing, biddability, constructability, operability and environmental compliance.
Reviews quality assurance plans for compliance with contract documents and regulatory requirements.
Provides expert environmental and chemical guidance on toxicological issues involving the interaction of the chemical and physical hazards on biological systems.

In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Your resume must describe at least one year of specialized experience which prepared you to do the work in this job.
Specialized Experience for the GS-12: One year of experience which include managing investigation and remediation of contaminated sites under Federal and/or state environmental cleanup regulations. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the Federal service (GS-11).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job there is no education substitution for experience, you must qualify based on specialized experience.
