About the position: This position will be assigned to the Auto Hobby Center.
THIS IS A DRUG TESTING POSITION. Must maintain cooperative and harmonious working relationships with other staff members and show willingness to learn on the job.
Must be able to maintain or receive certification for HAZMAT, MASCOM and ECAMP within 60 days of appointment.
Duties
The purpose of this position is to plan and administer the activities, service, and staff of the Automotive Skills Center, assist patrons in automotive repairs and service needs, and maintain the Force Support vehicle fleet (schedule maintenance and repairs).
Responsible for the efficient and effective operation of the Automotive Skills Center, its resale function, and car wash facility.
Ensures compliance with established fire, safety, and security requirements.
Ensures cleanliness and maintenance of facilities and equipment and performs safety inspections on tools and equipment on a regular basis.
Responsible for continual oversight of the HAZMAT, HAZCOM and ECAMP programs for the Automotive Skills Center and training Automotive Skills Center personnel.
Develops and maintains hazardous waste program to include hazardous waste accumulation point, related training and records maintenance as required by federal and state laws.
Maintains a current library or maintenance manuals and catalogs, and ensures necessary tools and equipment are available to accommodate patrons.
Conducts, or arranges for, automotive instructional classes for patrons.
Prepares promotional materials.
Collects, deposits, and verifies all funds received from operation of activity.
Monitors records and ensures proper cash handling procedures are followed.
Develops and verifies all quarterly and annual budgets for appropriated and non-appropriated funds including justification statements, and approves all expenditures.
Exercises cost control measures to ensure costs are in line with approved budgets.
Assists patrons with automotive problems or questions.
Selects and purchases resale and special order items; prices items so that profit margins are maintained according to established goals.
Collects, deposits, and verifies all funds received from operation of activity.
Monitors records and ensures proper cash handling procedures are followed.
Collects, deposits, and verifies all quarterly and annual budgets for appropriated and non-appropriated funds including justification statements and approves all expenditures.
Performs supervisory personnel management responsibilities such as assigns work to subordinates based on priorities and deadlines, grants leave and provides appropriate recognition and feedback for the Automotive Skills Center employee's.

Requirements
- This position requires the incumbent to complete a background investigation with favorable results.
- This position may require shift work that could include days, nights, weekends, holidays, and down days.
- Drug testing is required as a pre-employment task and will remain on a random testing cycle.
- Must pass pre-employment physical.
- Must obtain a VALID drivers license.
- Must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Must possess skill in dealing with the public.
- Must be able to use a wide variety of automotive tools, read and interpret parts manuals, schematics and manufacturer's repair manuals.
- Must be able to maintain or receive certification for HAZMAT, MASCOM and ECAMP within 60 days of appointment.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Qualifying Experience:
Must have responsible administrative, professional, technical or other work which has provided a general knowledge of management principles and progressively responsible experience in one or more functions managed by an automotive supervisor.
Must have specialized experience in the automotive skills center or an automotive service center with supervision over the various phases of automotive mechanics to include diagnostics and repair which provided an in-depth knowledge of automotive, service procedures, rules and regulations.
Knowledge of automotive mechanics which includes the ability to troubleshoot, diagnose and repair/correct problems.
Must be able to use a wide variety of automotive tools, read and interpret parts manuals, schematics and manufacturer's repair manuals.
Must be able to maintain or receive certification for HAZMAT, MASCOM and ECAMP within 60 days of appointment.
Certification by the National Institute of Automotive Service for Excellence or a 2-year community/technical college certification in the automotive field is highly desirable.
Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license.
This is a drug testing designated position.
The incumbent is subject to random testing for drug use.
Must beable tocommunicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Must possess skill in dealing with the public.
Must be able to satisfactorily complete a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI).
May be required to work an irregular tour of duty to include days, nights, weekends, and holidays.

Education
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution.
