Duties

This position is located at the State, Territory, or DC (S/T/DC) Joint Force Headquarters (JFHQ) underneath the Primary Prevention Officer. Primary purpose of this position is to directly support the development and execution of policies, programs, and procedures for implementing integrated primary prevention activities relating to self-directed harm (i.e., self-cutting, drug and alcohol abuse, thoughts of suicide, self-directed abusive thoughts, suicide attempts and suicides), averting harm or abuse before it occurs. Identifies risk and protective factors that lead to or protect against unhealthy or unsafe behaviors. Promote or mitigate actions relating to environmental exposure. Due to the specialty nature of these roles this position reports to the Primary Prevention Officer. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements
- NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED. If you are not sure you are eligible for military membership, please contact a National Guard recruiter prior to applying for this position.
- This is an excepted service position that requires membership in military assignment in WV's National Guard, and is required prior to the effective date of placement.
- Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.
- Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.
- Male applicants born after 12/31/1959 and are required to register under the Military Selective Service Act, the Defense Authorization Act of 1986 requires that you be registered, or you are not eligible for appointment in this agency.
- Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
- May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.

- U.S. Citizenship is required.
- Required to obtain and maintain a satisfactory security clearance, AND, as a minimum, a completed National Agency
Check (NAC) prior to assignment.

- This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position.
- Ability to establish effective professional working relationships with coworkers and customers contributing to a cooperative working environment and successful accomplishment of the mission.
- Irregular and/or overtime (compensatory) hours may be required to support operational requirements or contingencies or may be required to work hours outside of the normal duty day.
- May require travel in military and/or commercial aircraft to perform temporary duty assignments.
- The work may require the incumbent to drive a motor vehicle; if so, and an appropriate valid driver?s license is mandatory.
- This is a National Guard dual status technician position which requires military membership.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Degree: behavioral or social science; or related disciplines appropriate to the
position that included at least 24 semester hours of course work in the behavioral
or social sciences.
OR
Combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with
knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a
major in the field that included at least 24 semester hours of course work in the
behavioral or social sciences.
OR
Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has
acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences
equivalent to a major in the field.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have at least 36 months experience, education or training analyzing problems, identifying significant factors, gathering pertinent data and recognizing solutions; preparing reports, plans, policies and various correspondence; evaluating objectives and develop plans to facilitate the availability and effective utilization of various social science resources. Must have knowledge of the organization and its mission and utilized the organizational staff procedures. Experience applying analytical and evaluative techniques to issues or studies concerning the efficiency and effectiveness of social science program operations carried out by administrative or professional personnel, or substantive administrative support functions. Experience in managing the function of the work to be performed. Experience which includes leading, directing and assigning work of personnel.
Education
Degree: behavioral or social science; or related disciplines appropriate to the
position that included at least 24 semester hours of course work in the behavioral
or social sciences.

Combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with
knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a
major in the field that included at least 24 semester hours of course work in the
behavioral or social sciences.
