Works under the general supervision of the Utility Management Unit Foreman. The incumbent is assigned a wide variety of duties of a journeyman electrician involving installation, modification, repair, troubleshooting, preventive maintenance and testing of complex electrical systems, circuits, equipment, appliances, controls, components, lighting fixtures and fire alarm systems.
Duties
Major duties include but not limited too:
Pull conductors through raceway systems, phase out and make connections, sometimes under load (when they are "hot").
Maintains and repairs all electrical equipment including transformers, feeders, motors, generators, starters, overload and over current protectors and controllers.
Troubleshoot and maintain electric and electronic control circuits on various equipment including laundry equipment, dietetic equipment, rotary files, electric beds, fire alarm system, tray conveyors, and incinerators.
Operate power hydraulic work platforms.
Test and inspect electrical work to ensure safe installation and compliance with regulatory codes.
Performs other assigned duties

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions: The incumbent works from ladders, scaffolding and hydraulic work platforms. He/she often works in portions of the electrical systems requiring attention that are in cramped, dirty and hard to-reach locations. The work involves prolonged crouching and standing and frequent stooping, bending, kneeling, climbing and working in exhausting and uncomfortable positions. The incumbent frequently lifts or carries tools, equipment, ladders, scaffolding, parts and supplies weighing up to 50 pounds. Occasionally, the incumbent will be required to lift and carry over 50 pounds.
