You will serve as a NONDESTRUCTIVE TEST INSPECTOR (CRITICAL SKILLS) in the Nondestructive Test Division, Quality Assurance Department of PEARL HARBOR NSY AND IMF.
Duties
You will perform complex nondestructive tests and analyses on complex and non-routine mechanical components, piping systems, and structural assemblies related to Naval surface ships and submarines and nuclear propulsion plants.
You will utilize knowledge of mathematics (algebra, geometry, and trigonometry, physics, and a physical and chemical properties of the materials being inspected.
You will examine metals, composites, ceramics, plastics, and other materials for internal and external structural defects, delamination, corrosion, and moisture penetration.
You will use various inspection equipment and technologies In the fields of Manual and Automated Ultrasonic Testing (UT), X-Ray and Isotope (Gamma) Radiographic Testing (RT), and Eddy Current Heat Exchanger Tubing Testing (ET) inspection methods.
You will perform surface Inspections using Liquid Penetrant Testing (PT) and Magnetic Particle Testing (MT) inspection methods.
You will interpret, evaluate, and analyze test results by discriminating electromagnetic signatures, waveforms, digital images, and the density of processed firm.
You will detect surface discontinuities in both ferrous and nonferrous materials and welds.
You will establish proper calibration by independently adjusting equipment settings and/or programs.
You will ensure that other personnel observe all safety rules and regulations in accordance with Nuclear Regulatory commission.

- You will be required to obtain and maintain a current Radiological (R Qualified) Worker certification.

- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Grade level qualification requirements:
WG-11: Applicants must possess the following Nondestructive Test Inspection qualifications 1) Visual Testing (VT); 2) Liquid Dye Penetrant Testing (PT); 3) Magnetic Particle Testing (MT); 4) Eddy Current Testing (ET) or Eddy Current Welds (ETW); 5) Ultrasonic Testing (UT) (thickness); and 6) Barrier Monitor (BM) or Radiographer Assistant (RA).
WG-13: In addition to the following Nondestructive Test Inspection qualifications: Visual Testing (VT); Liquid Dye Penetrant Testing (PT); Magnetic Particle Testing (MT); Eddy Current Testing (ET) or Eddy Current Welds (ETW); Ultrasonic Testing (UT) (thickness); and Barrier Monitor (BM) or Radiographer Assistant (RA); applicants must possess at least one of the following qualifications: 1) Ultrasonic Shear Wave Testing (UTSW); 2) Eddy Current Analysis Testing (ETA); 3) Radiographic Film Interpretation Testing (RTFI).(non-nuclear or nuclear).
