About the position: This position will be assigned to Hurlburt Lanes Bowling Center and is not guaranteed a set number of hours but can be scheduled 0 - 40 hours per week.

Duties
I.INTRODUCTION: The function of the organization where this position is located is in official functional statements. The purpose of this position is to perform a wide variety of simple cooking tasks.
II.STATEMENT OF DIFFERENCE:
Incumbent will perform duties of the attached Cook, NA-7404-04, position number 65466 within skill level and ability. Upon satisfactory completion of training period, incumbent will be non-competitively promoted to the target level position.
III.CONTROLS OVER WORK: Supervisor assigns work either orally or in writing; checks work in progress and is available for special instructions.
IV.OTHER SIGNIFICANT FACTS:
1.Skill and Knowledge: Must be skilled in doing tasks with several steps and must use judgment in sequencing tasks. Knowledge of sanitation standards for handling and serving food is desirable, and cleaning equipment and work area.
2.Physical Effort: Frequently lifts or moves objects weighing up to 40 pounds. Continuous standing, walking, frequent stooping, reaching, pushing, pulling and bending. May be required to work on ladders and use powered cleaning equipment.
3.Working Conditions: Uncomfortably high temperature and humidity are created by steam and heat from cooking and dishwashing. Area is usually noisy and there is a danger of slipping on wet floors where food or beverage has been dropped. Exposed to hot liquids, sharp cutting blades, hot working surfaces and extreme temperature changes when entering walk-in refrigeration or freezer units.

Requirements
- This position requires the incumbent to complete a background investigation with favorable results.
- Must be able to read, write, and speak English.
- Must meet state and legal age requirement for sale of alcoholic beverages. Florida requires applicants to be 18 years of age at the close of this announcement.
- This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.
- This position requires the incumbent to complete assigned training, to include Food Handlers Certification, within specified time from date hire or assignment to the position.
- This position has a physical lifting requirement which requires the incumbent to complete a favorable pre-employment physical.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.
Qualifying Experience:
Must be able to follow simple oral instructions, be able to use hand tools for cleaning, and operate simple machines. Must be skilled in doing tasks with several steps and must use judgment in sequencing tasks. Knowledge of sanitation standards in handling and serving food is desirable, and cleaning equipment and work area. Must be physically able to frequently lift or move objects weighing up to 40 pounds. Must be able to continuously stand and walk, and frequently stoop, reach, push, pull and bend for long periods of time. Must be able to satisfactorily complete a pre-employment physical. Must be able to obtain a Food Handler's Certificate and/or complete food handler's training. Must be able to work days, nights, weekends and holidays. Must meet the minimum age requirement for serving alcoholic beverages. Must be able to read, write and speak English. Must be able to satisfactorily complete a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI).

Education
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution.
FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying.
