About the Position: This position is located with Fort Riley Directorate of Emergency Services (DES) working at various Access Control Points (ACP) and the Visitor Control Center (VCC).

Duties

Operates the National Crime Information Center (NCIC/NCICC) terminal in accordance with Federal and State laws. Provides information to supervisor as requested concerning promotions, reassignments, recognition of outstanding performance, and personnel issues of subordinates. Verifies personal credentials, print visitor passes/badges, create and edit card holder records and run card and/or pass access reports. Answers brief visitor questions, determine whether appropriate authorization for access exists and provide assistance.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position is subject to the Lautenberg Amendment/Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968.
  • This position has been designated "Mission Essential". In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations (natural or man-made disaster) the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled.
  • Must be trained and maintain current required certifications in CPR techniques and must know first aid. May act as a first responder in a medical emergency.
  • Overtime may be required as directed and is subject to recall for periods of emergency overtime. Requires shift work to include evenings, nights, weekends and holidays.
  • Incumbent must be fully qualified to operate a government vehicle. Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license. Loss of license may result in removal from the position.
  • Must wear the Department of the Army Security Guard (DASG) uniform IAW AR 190-56. Incumbent must successfully complete ALL security guard training.
  • Must be proficient in the use of assigned firearms/weapons. Must pass an initial and semi-annual qualification of assigned firearms/weapons.
  • Incumbent may be required to wear chemical protection masks, gloves, and other protective equipment, and may be required to be certified in the use of aerosol irritants (e.g. OC Spray) and baton.
  • Employees must successfully complete initial/recertification Security Guard training.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a two year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
  • This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.
  • This is a drug testing designated position. Incumbent is subject to pre-employment and random urinalysis on a recurring basis, in accordance with (IAW) AR 600-85.
  • Must pass pre-employment and annual medical examination of physical, emotional and mental stability, IAW AR 190-56.
  • Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain eligibility at the Secret level using a Tier 3 background investigation.
  • Incumbent must meet the requirements of the Individual Reliability Program, IAW AR 190-56.
  • Incumbent must be able to obtain and sustain state certification for operating the NCIC terminals.

  • Must obtain and maintain applicable certifications in operating various electronic equipment and sensors.
