This position is located in the Civil Rights Division's (Division), Administrative Management Section. The Office is responsible for providing automated litigation support services (ALS) to Division attorneys and legal support staff in preparation for all stages of litigation from discovery through onsite trial support in Washington DC and throughout the nation. This is accomplished through the use of contractor support and various ALS technologies.
Duties
The incumbent will serve as a Litigation Support Specialist. Duties include, but are not limited to:
The incumbent provides expert advice and consultation to Civil Rights Division attorneys and legal support staff on ways to apply and integrate technological capabilities throughout every aspect of the case investigation and litigation.
As subject matter expert, incumbent identifies E-Discovery and litigation support personnel to create, operate, and maintain the automated litigation system process.
Performs tasks associated with the organization, preservation, processing, production, delivery, and tracking of investigatory and litigation data in cases involving large volumes of documentary and/or digital evidence (i.e., millions of files or terabytes (TB) of data).
Designs and manages database systems (i.e., Relativity, IPRO) for access by multiple users and monitors data integrity to ensure the accuracy and currency of the information contained within the databases.
Prepares and provides periodic status reports for use by other senior-level staff and Division management to keep abreast of litigation support activity planned or under way and budget status.
Designs and runs reports of categories of documents, and retrieves documents from internal sources, as requested by trial teams throughout trial preparation, trial, and post-trial briefing.
Qualifications
Specialized Experience Requirements
To qualify for the GS-12 grade level, you must have one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service or other pay system. This experience must include: 1) meeting with trial attorneys and professional administrative staff to discuss and gather case requirements; 2) developing a plan to review and process data to create a database; AND 3) applying knowledge of automated litigation support applications and best practices, concepts, methods, and procedures to carry out case support.
