The Veterans Health Administration (VHA) has adopted the HR Modernization and Shared Services Implementation, which is a new model of organizing and consolidating essential Human Resource (HR) functions and services to the Network level.

Duties
The File Clerk is assigned to Michael E DeBakey VAMC Strategic Business Unit, in Houston, TX. The duties of the position include, but are not limited to:
Provides a wide range of functions within Human Resources supporting HR Staff with scanning and indexing Human Resources documents.
Maintains Human Resource automated systems of applicant and employee records and files.
Ensures that electronic files and records are maintained in accordance with the Privacy Act of 1974, HIPAA, and other applicable laws, Federal Regulations, VA statues and local policies.
Indexes scanned documents into a SharePoint of similar shared drive folder accessed via personal computer (PC) and related tools.
Assigns appropriate document-named nomenclature.
Resolves Human Resources electronic filing issues
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, to be scheduled between the hours of 7:30AM to 4:30PM

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 08/21/2023.
You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below:
Experience: You must have one (1) year of general experience. The experience could have been progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular competencies needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled. This may be paid or non-paid experience; OR,
Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have Two (2) years of education above the high school level (education may have been obtained in an accredited junior college, college, university, business, secretarial or technical school); This education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. One year of full-time academic study is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in a college or university, or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in a business, secretarial, or technical school. If basing qualification off education, transcripts are required; OR,
Combination: Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. You must have an combination of general experience and education beyond. The experience may have been gained in the public sector, private sector or Volunteer Service. One year of experience refers to full-timework; part-timework is considered on a prorated basis. Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Physical Requirements: The work is mostly sedentary; however, some bending, stretching, walking, and lifting are required.
