These job openings are in the Bureau for Global Health, MCHN/CHI (Maternal Child Health and Nutrition/Child Health and Immunization) at the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID).
USAID's Bureau for Global Health supports health programs in partner countries, advances research and innovation in areas relevant to overall Agency health objectives, and transfers new technologies through its own programmatic work, coordination with other donors, and a portfolio of grants.
Duties
Serves as an expert on policy, program and/or operational function issues; develops policies, and strategies, and plans for agency-wide application, related to polio eradication.
Demonstrates skills and knowledge related to polio eradication, immunization, infectious disease, and/or maternal and child health.
Participates in developing strategies and detailed plans, and oversees implementation of major crisis operations programs and/or operational functions in low and middle-income countries, particularly focused on polio eradication.
Identifies and proposes solutions to problems that are important to planning the direction of future international crisis programs and/or operational functions, with a particular focus on polio eradication and control of vaccine-preventable disease.
As appropriate, represents the Agency to external stakeholders, in meetings with host governments, Congress, public and private organizations, multilateral organizations, and other donors.
Participates in policy formulation and operations, reviews liaison activities, and informs stakeholders on crisis programs and/or operations, with particular focus on polio eradication and control of vaccine-preventable disease.
Requirements

- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance.
- Males born after 12/31/1959 must be registered with the Selective Service.

Qualifications
Basic Requirements:
Bachelor's or graduate/higher level degree: major study in an academic field related to the medical field, health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of the position. This degree must be from an educational program from an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education(external link) at the time the degree was obtained.In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:Specialized Experience:
GS-15: You need at least one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-14 level in the Federal service. Specialized experience refers to full-time work, while part-time roles are considered on a prorated basis. Qualifying specialized experience includes:
Demonstrated technical expertise and/or experience in polio eradication, immunization, infectious disease, and/or maternal and child health;
Managing, evaluating, and providing expert technical oversight to centrally administered programs/projects and/or multilateral programs and partnerships that strengthen polio eradication, immunization, infectious disease, and/or maternal and child health in low- and middle-income country settings;
Delivering technical assistance or management of projects or activities related to technical expertise and/or programmatic experience in polio eradication, immunization, infectious disease, and/or maternal and child health.
Please note that qualifying specialized work experience may have been gained through a variety of activities, including residence, study, teaching, business or commercial activities, military service, newspaper work, military or civil government activities, missionary or international relief work, or other foreign work experience.
