You will serve as the File Clerk in the Health Care Administration Service located in Mann-Grandstaff Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Spokane Washington.
Duties
You will utilize a personal computer to retrieve electronic documents and files, performs data entry, compose, edit, transmit and receive correspondence.
You will have materials vary in format and require determinations regarding placement within the filing systems.
You will maintain a good rapport with employees at all levels within the medical center as well as with staff at other VA and healthcare facilities.
You will responsible for investigating and correcting problems with records received from within the medical center and other facilities, identifying and suggesting solutions to problems with the transferring and receiving of information to or from other VA facilities.
You will be responsible for the filing system and procedures, including content, arrangement, filing procedures for subject matter, historical and numerical filing systems used by the organization, including types and purposes of documents kept presently as well as in the past.
You will screen for and separates material related to special projects and programs.
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm.
Telework: Ad-Hoc only may be authorized. Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by 30 the closing date of this announcement, 08/30/2023.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by 30 days of the closing date of this announcement. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade.
For a GS-04 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-03.

You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below:
General Experience: You must have one year of general experience in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of general experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Conduct filing and management of medical documents; Perform systematic arrangement of medical records into the Electronic Medical Record (EMR.); Using technology to enter data of indirect and direct patient care activities. Comprehension medical terminology and abbreviation to appropriately determine correct medical reports and records. OR,
EDUCATION (TRANSCRIPTS REQUIRED): I have successfully completed 2 full years above high school or equivalent degree in any field for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite. This education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college, or university. One year of full-time academic study is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in a college or university, or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in a business, secretarial, or technical school. This education was obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college, or university. NOTE: If you are qualifying on education, transcripts are required. COMBINING EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED): I have successfully completed equivalent combination of post-high school education and experience to meet total experience requirements at grades GS-04. For the GS-4, only education in excess of one year post high school graduation or equivalent is creditable. Note: If you are qualifying on education, transcripts are required. Transcripts (unofficial or official) must be submitted with your application materials. Education cannot be credited without documentation. Your resume must clearly indicate the nature of your duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment.

Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment.
Physical Requirements: The work requires long periods of standing, walking, bending, stooping, reaching, pulling, or carrying o flight objects such as files. There is occasional lifting and carrying of such items as record boxes, paper boxes, and bulking files (under 50 pounds).
Working Conditions: The work is normally performed in an office setting that is adequately heated, lighted, and ventilated.
