The incumbent of this position serves as Deputy Solicitor and reports directly to the Solicitor. The FLRAs Office of the Solicitor represents the FLRA in court proceedings before all U.S. courts, including the U.S. Supreme Court, the U.S. Courts of Appeals, and the Federal District Courts; serves as the FLRA's in-house counsel, providing legal advice to all FLRA components. In addition, the Office performs various functions under the FOIA and the Privacy Act.
Duties
The Deputy Solicitor serves as the first-line supervisor, represents the Solicitor in all activities, assists in the development of regulations, standards and legislative proposals, and provides legal opinions and advice concerning all FLRA activity. The Deputy Solicitor participates in the day-to-day operations of the office, represents the Solicitor as directed, and takes responsibility for special tasks and efforts as required. In the absence of the Solicitor, the Deputy Solicitor performs delegated duties and responsibilities.
Qualifications
Candidates for this position are required to possess and maintain a commanding knowledge of both procedural and substantive labor or related law, including experience in federal-sector labor law. To qualify for this position, applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 grade level, which has provided them with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of a Supervisory Attorney-Advisor (Labor), at the GS-15 grade level.

Applicants for the position must be an active member of the Bar of any state or territory, District of Columbia, or Puerto Rico. Education
Candidates must possess a J.D. degree, be duly licensed and authorized to practice as an attorney under the laws of any State or territory of the United States, or the District of Columbia. Applicants must be an active member of the bar (any jurisdiction) and a member in good standing.
