This position is located in Armed Forces Retirement Home-Washington, Healthcare, Nursing facilities. The primary purpose of this position is to support cost effective, high quality, compassionate, competent care through education, training, and quality improvement activities for the Residents of the campus.
Duties
As a/an Nurse Educator, you will:
Develop, implement, and evaluate the Education and Training Program for Nursing and Health Care, based on: mission, staff needs assessment, leadership input, new knowledge, accepted geriatric care standards and regulatory guidelines, maintains records, including attendance, evidence of competency, class outlines, handouts and evaluations.
Perform staff Needs Assessments and Surveys, collects staff student evaluations of classes and clinical rotations, for on-going planning, and improvement.
Assist the managers to define, develop and assess staff competency and maintain all healthcare competency records.
Plan operations to meet workload, prepare monthly calendars of classes and activities; meet daily with subordinate to review assigned activities.
Perform Quality Improvement (QI) observation projects, report to leadership staff, receive QI Indicator reports, develop classes to meet identified needs, for improved Resident care.
Qualifications
You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
Specialized experience is one year (52 weeks) of experience at the GS-11 level, or equivalent that has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position. Specialized experience is experience supporting cost effective, high quality, compassionate, competent care through education, training, and quality improvement activities.
Examples:
Using evidence based nursing practices and educational materials OR
Conducting educational needs assessments of a nursing staff OR
Analyzing data to develop education programs for a medical facility OR
Providing classroom and clinical instruction for a medical facility.
SPECIAL NOTE: Long-term care experience and/or interacting with geriatric patients is highly desired.
Licensure: For all grade levels and positions, applicants must have passed the National Council Licensure Examination. In addition, they must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
Education
Education Requirements: A graduate or higher level degree, bachelors degree, associate degree, or diploma from an accredited professional nursing educational program is required. This education must have been accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs, Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.
