This position is located within the Maintenance and Operation Section of the Engineering and Facilities Management Service at the Mather Air Force Base
Duties
Some of the duties and responsibilities of this position include (but are not limited to):
Assembles, installs and repairs doors, door frames, window frames, screens and moldings, door holders, lock sockets, closures, bumpers, handrails, etc.
Repairs, installs, and replaces suspended ceiling grid system and panels.
Lays out, installs, and maintains vinyl tile, base coving laminated surfaces.
Lays out, frames and erects partitions.
Builds displays, and modifies tables, counters, cabinets and shelving, etc.
Repairs structural bearing and non-bearing walls and installs and finishes meta stud walls.
Prepares surfaces for paint application by sanding, patching, etc.
Paints rooms and performs touch?up painting.
Performs electrical work that consists of replacing fixtures, lights, switches, outlets, motors, and Health Care Provider call systems. TV systems, pulling cable, etc.
Performs plumbing work which includes repairing or replacing leaking faucets, toilet flushing devices, clearing clogged drain lines, sterilizer's valves and sprinkler systems.
Adjusts room thermostats and hot/cold water temperature control valves.
Cleans air filters and refrigeration condensers.
Repairs wheelchairs, mobile stretcher, gurneys and mail carts.
Performs minor adjustments to miscellaneous office equipment.
Stores and warehouses stock for Engineering, including parts and materials required for maintenance and repair.
Assists in the loading and unloading trucks.
Orders and delivers office supplies and equipment for the Engineering service.
Packs and crates items for shipment.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm

Qualifications
PHYSICAL EFFORT AND WORK CONDITIONS: Walks on cement, tile or other hard surfaces. Stoops, bends, and stands in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Moves at a rapid pace in performing some duties. Frequently lifts, transports, carries or handles heavy items or supplies or equipment. Lifts, pushes, handles or otherwise controls heavy items. Must work from ladders, scaffolds, platforms and in areas where dirt, fumes, various gases and other contaminants are present. Also required to work on ladders in an overhead position and in small spaces with bad lighting. Subject to long periods of standing, sitting or squatting and must frequently lift, carry and set up material and equipment that weight up to 50 pounds. May be required to wear protective equipment and clothing that is heavy and uncomfortable. May be exposed to the possibility of cuts, bruises and broken bones.
