This is an office-centered position*--you must physically report to the duty station stated in this announcement on a regular basis.

Qualifications
We are looking for at least one year of specialized experience related to this position as described below: To qualify for the GS-13 level, you need to have at least one year of full-time experience equivalent to the GS-12 level defined as providing advice and assistance; implementing water quality standards and monitoring and assessment programs; and preparing and reviewing policy recommendations and technical proposals on water related issues. Your answers to the online assessment will be used to evaluate your competencies in the following areas:
-Knowledge of the Clean Water Act programs and activities.
-Knowledge in a wide range of concepts, principles, and practices in the area of nutrient criteria development.
-Knowledge of methods used to derive water quality criteria, including nutrient criteria, as well as agency peer review processes and rulemaking procedures.
-Knowledge of the Water Division procedures, processes and practices.
-Skill in accessing and manipulating a variety of databases.
-Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
-Skill make decisions or recommendations significantly changing, interpreting, or expanding important agency/national policies and programs.
-Ability to defend water quality nutrient criteria which significantly impact the costs of wastewater treatment for the regulated public across the region.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
