Duties
Planning, directing and coordinating the development, preparation and implementation of technical operational specifications involved in the processing of statistical data.
Planning and monitoring electronic digital computer systems processing.
Planning and coordinating the application of new developments and techniques to automated systems for the purpose of achieving maximum effectiveness regarding utilization of such systems in the Bureau's operations.

This Job Opportunity Announcement may be used to fill other Supervisory Information Technology Specialist (APPSW), 2210, 14, FPL GS-14 positions within the Census Bureau in the same geographical location with the same qualifications and specialized experience.
For GS-2210 all positions individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below.

Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.
In addition to the basic requirements above, applicants must also demonstrate specialized experience below:
Specialized Experience: For the GS-14, you must have one year of experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-13 in the Federal service. Experience for this position includes Managing and directing the work of the branch including providing IT support and data processing, data collection support and post data collection processing. Develops software applications using languages such as SAS and/or Python and coding standards (guidelines, best practices, conventions, etc.). Planning and implementing system integration and various testing operations for assigned software and ensures technical requirements are met. Ensures the development and delivery of quality software products that meet customer needs.
There is no education substitute for specialized experience at this grade level.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer.
