Qualifications
We are looking for at least one year of specialized experience related to this position as described below:
To qualify for the GS-12 level, you need to have at least one year of full-time experience equivalent to the GS-11 level defined as performing independent evaluation of complex cases to make recommendations to resolve land remediation assessment and cleanup activities, applying policy and procedural guidance to address releases of hazardous substances, contaminants, or pollutants, providing input for inclusion in national, state, tribal and local environmental programs affecting land remediation, and assisting in developing regulations, policies and guidance for land remediation and revitalization programs.
Your answers to the online assessment will be used to evaluate your competencies in the following areas:
Knowledge of Federal environmental laws/amendments, regulations, and policies pertaining to land remediation programs, planning, standards, and requirements.
Skill in interpreting environmental regulations and policy sufficient to advise stakeholders on planning, strategies and requirements.
Knowledge of grants, cooperative/ interagency agreements regulations, policies and procedures.
Skill in oral communication to deliver briefings to management on specific technical and policy issues in areas of responsibility.
Skill in written communication to prepare comprehensive reports and develop regulations and operating guidance.
Knowledge of land management remediation programs and strategies sufficient to solve complex problems involving diverse aspects of environmental protection.
Ability to provide knowledge and analysis regarding effectiveness of local and regional programs with input on national programs, targets and accomplishments.
Ability to provide planning for the land remediation program for current and out-year site activities, specifically focused on: data integrity and reporting for regional and national customers.
Knowledge of land management remediation programs and strategies sufficient to solve complex problems involving diverse aspects of environmental protection.
Skill in interpreting environmental regulations and policy sufficient to advise stakeholders on planning, strategies and requirements.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
