You will serve as a INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY SPECIALIST (SECURITY) in the Management Information System (MIS) Branch (SPP15) of the Support Services and Planning Division, Naval Ordnance Test Unit (NOTU) of NAV ORD TEST UNIT.
Duties
You will review, analyze, and evaluate IT system accreditation configurations and documentation to ensure adequate protection of IT resources.
You will analyze, evaluate and make recommendations concerning alternative approaches and improvements to the accreditation and certification process.
You will determine computer hardware/software security deficiencies, develops alternative approaches, identifies potential security flaws and recommends countermeasures.
You will serve as the Key Management Infrastructure (KMI) Manager and holds the position and title of Information Technology Specialist reporting directly to the Information Technology Division Head on all matters related to KMI.
You will assist in the installation of additional workstations and internal pulling of cables, when adding new customers/users to the LAN.
You will provide basic training to the customer on the operation of command software.
You will analyzes, diagnose, and correct normal expected operational problems involving the computer systems on a daily basis.
You will maintain trouble logs, citing patterns of errors, if applicable. Conducts a continuous evaluation of the existing systems to assess their cost, performance, and responsiveness to user requirements.

- This position is designated as a Cyber IT/Cybersecurity Workforce position. You must obtain and maintain the credentials as described in SECNAV M-5239.2 for specialty area Information Assurance Technical level II within 12 months of appointment.
- This position has an IT Position Level I designation and performs a critical sensitive function per SECNAV M-5510.30.
- This position may be subject to random counterintelligence polygraphs, per OPNAVINST 5510.165.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain the appropriate IA and Computing Environment/Operating System (CE/OS) certifications/certificates for this IA position in accordance with DoD 8570.1-M and SECNAV M-5239.2.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the next lower pay band (NH-2) or grade level (GS-11) in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: analyzing and implementing IT related maintenance and security measures on both software and hardware systems to ensure compliance and security of command resources.
Your experience must reflect skill in the following areas: attention to detail, customer service, oral communication, and problem solving.
