This position works in support of the Aerospace Medical Certification Program reviewing airmen Electrocardiograms (ECGs) for technical and acute pathological problems.

Duties

Performs a combination of routine, multiple and varying tasks/assignments under the general direction of a manager, project/program manager, or more experienced employee for the national FAA Aerospace Medical Certification Program to review airmen Electrocardiograms (ECGs) for technical and acute pathological problems. Typically acts as a member of a team to assist other employees in day-to-day operations.

  • Successful completion of a security investigation may be required.

Qualifications

Specialized Experience (for positions at GS-4 and above): Positions in this series range widely in type and include support duties to medical or health personnel such as audiologists, speech pathologists, medical officers, and optometrists. Therefore, technician experience is experience that required application of the knowledge, methods, and techniques of the position to be filled.To qualify for this position at the FV-F (FG/GS 7/8) level, you must demonstrate in your application that you possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to FV-E (FG/GS 5/6) level. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level.Specialized experience includes: experience reviewing Electrocardiograms (ECGs) for technical and acute problems; interpreting electrocardiograms to screen discrepancies; verifying discrepancies; and utilizing practical knowledge of medical terminology to compile and summarize data consisting of ECG pathology codes.Applicants should provide examples of Specialized Experience in their Work History. ORGraduate education or an internship meets the specialized experience required above GS-5 only in those instances where it is directly related to the work of the position. One full year of graduate education meets the requirements for FV-F (FG/GS 7/8) level.One year of full-time graduate education is considered to be the number of credit hours that the school attended has determined to represent 1 year of full-time study. If that information cannot be obtained from the school, 18 semester hours should be considered as satisfying the 1 year of full-time study requirement. Part-time graduate education is creditable in accordance with its relationship to a year of full-time study at the school attended.ORCombination education and experience may be qualifying for this position. Refer to OPM's Operating Manual Qualification Standards for more information.If your qualifications for this position are based on education, you must submit a transcript of your college coursework by the closing date of the announcement. Schools must be accredited by an accredited institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. Candidates who do not possess the SPF are rated ineligible/not qualified and will not receive further consideration for the position.ANDQuality Ranking Factor (QRF): A well-qualified candidate will demonstrate successful completion of an electrocardiogram (ECG) analysis-training program or comparable training program.
