The position is located in Indian Health Service (IHS), Phoenix Indian Medical Center (PIMC), Division of Professional Services, Physical Therapy Department in Phoenix, AZ. Incumbent serves as a Physical Therapist and is to be responsible for directing and providing professional physical therapy evaluation and treatment, education, and consultation for the program. This position reports to the Chief of Physical Therapy.

Duties

Provide and apply a wide range of highly specialized professional skills, concepts, methodologies, principles and practices of physical therapy services for patients, with complex pathologies such as musculoskeletal, neurological, neuro-muscular, developmental, and other medical, post-surgical and orthopedic pathologies. Conduct comprehensive multiple body system evaluations of patients with a wide variety of complex pathologies referred to the Physical Therapy Department and synthesizes examination data to establish diagnoses, prognoses, and plans of care for patients. Develop complex therapeutic plans and conducts therapeutic activities for the various physical and medical problems encountered in order to directly appeal to and meet the treatment needs of patients. Apply methods and procedures that encompass standardized, non-standardized, innovative, and developmental approaches to physical therapy to resolve unusual and unconventional issues. Conduct ongoing re-evaluation of therapy results in order to assess patient progress and evaluate the effectiveness of a physical therapy plan of care routinely to modifying treatment regimens and measures in order to achieve optimal outcomes. **This position is being announced concurrently under Delegated Examining Plan (DE) procedures. Qualifications

To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. BASIC REQUIREMENT(S): Reference: https://www.opm.gov/policy-data-oversight/classification-qualifications/general-schedule-qualification-standards/0600/physical-therapist-series-0633/ Education: Completed a graduate or higher level degree that included: -A physical therapy curriculum approved by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or a professional accrediting organization recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained; and -Completion of the clinical requirements prescribed by the school. Licensure: Possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a Physical Therapist from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States AND have passed the National Physical Therapy Examination administered by the Federation of State Boards of Physical Therapy (FSBPT). In addition to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, GS-0633-12: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Conduct comprehensive multiple body system evaluations of patients with a wide variety of complex pathologies; Provide and apply a wide range of specialized skills, concepts, methodologies, principles and practices of physical therapy services for patients, with complex pathologies; Develop complex therapeutic plans and conducts therapeutic activities for the various physical and medical problems in order to appeal to and meet the treatment needs of patients. Conduct ongoing re-evaluation of therapy results in order to assess patient progress. Time In Grade Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP). You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
