This position is part of the Air Force Elements, U.S. Transportation Command, Transportation Command.
Duties
This position is being filled under the memorandum from the Under Secretary of Defense for Personnel and Readiness (USD(P&R)) "Expansion of Direct Hire Authority for Certain Personnel of the Department of Defense," dated October 15, 2021.
This position is being filled under AcqDemo Direct Hiring Authority (DHA) for non-acquisition positions involving 51% or more of time in direct support of acquisition positions within Business and Technical Management Professional Career path.
As a IT SPECIALIST (CYBER/ENTARCH) at the NH-2210-4 some of your typical work assignments may include:
Serves as a Senior Cybersecurity Professional within the USTRANCOM Command, Control, Communications, and Cyber Systems Directorate
Develops secure solutions across various disciplines to include project planning, software development, systems integration, configuration control, and On Prem and Cloud Operations.
Oversees the development and acquisition of system(s) and architecture(s) that are consistent with organization's cybersecurity architecture guidelines and modernization vision.
Develops, fields, and sustains secure systems and ensure DoD products are delivered on time, perform as expected, and are cost-effective.
Performs risk assessments, and recommends informed decisions for system development, deployment, and sustainment.

- Employee may be required to work overtime on an unscheduled or emergency basis.
- Employee may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft/vehicle to conferences, meetings,
or functions away from the duty office/location. Travel may include overnight stays.
- This is a cybersecurity position. The employee must attain and maintain the appropriate DoD approved cybersecurity baseline Certificate(s) within six months of filling the position, IAW DoD 8140
- A masters degree in a related technical discipline such as computer engineering, computer science, or information technology is highly desirable.
- The duties of this position meet all requirements as a category 4 designation, and shall not be vacated during a national emergency or mobilization
- This position must be removed from the
Ready Reserve and cannot become a member of the Ready Reserve. (IAW: DoDD 1200.7, "Screening the Ready Reserve,"
Qualifications
You may qualify at the NH 04, if you fulfill the following qualifications:
A. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the NH03 or GS-13 grade level in the Federal service as listed below:
Applying complex IT system design principles and practices (i.e. cloud migration, integration techniques, and other methods as directed in government policies)
Assessing Cybersecurity risk of existing systems and recommending actions to guide future development.
Leading software development and integration project using best practices, tools, and methodologies.
Providing cybersecurity leadership to a team, to include requirements development, design, development, testing, and transition.
Presenting technical concepts, both orally and in writing, to senior military, government, and civilian officials
