About the Position: The U.S. Military Academy, West Point, NY is an academic institution located in the Hudson River Valley, 50 miles from New York City. The historic site is the oldest continuously occupied military post in America. West Point is a self-contained city with housing, a Department of Public Works, libraries, hospital, fire department, chapels, and restaurants. Employees have access to Eisenhower Hall Theater, Hudson Valley's performing arts center, and recreational facilities.
Review project costs incurred to ensure all expenditures are appropriately documented and remain within the department?s established operating budget; and identify variances in resource utilization and expenditures.
Prepare and review a variety of procurement documentation, funding documents, administrative reports, and similar documents required to support program funding and procurement actions.
Assist in coordinating organization events which include but are not limited to cadet summer internships, project competitions, conferences and other events sponsored or attended by the organization?s staff.
Monitor status of funds to ensure organization stays within budget.
Assist in the preparation, consolidation and completion of a variety of management and research reports, acquisition documents, planning documents, and briefing materials.
Maintain calendars for organization and its leadership, setting calendar priorities based on knowledge of commitments and assessment of significance.
Serve as the point of contact for information on policies, procedures, and requirements on matters pertaining to administrative functions.
Serve as Timekeeper for Army Automated Time Attendance and Production System (ATAAPS).

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) utilizing automated systems to input, query, and/or retrieve administrative data; 2) providing guidance to personnel on matters pertaining to an organization's administrative functions; 3) assisting in scheduling or coordinating events for an organization; and, 4) coordinating travel itineraries and/or arrangements. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).
Education: One full year of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Management, Business Administration, or another related field.
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18. Add the two percentages.
Proficiency Required:This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06).
