This vacancy is for an IT Specialist (Internet) position in the Department of Commerce located at the U.S. Census Bureau Headquarters in Suitland, Maryland. The Census Bureau is accessible from the Metro Rail Green Line - Suitland Station. This Job Opportunity Announcement may be used to fill other IT Specialist (Internet), 2210, 12, positions within the Census Bureau in the same geographical location with the same qualifications and specialized experience within 90 days of the closing date.

Duties

Conducts feasibility studies and recommends course of action. Participates in most phases of projects, from advising on specification requirements and limitations to helping project managers define the problem or need. Reviews requirements of projects to determine objectives of the program, concepts, nature of the unprocessed data, and processes required in support of the computer effort in order to organize work processes and problems for computer solution. Creation of general utility routines and systems and independently develops the more complex routines and detailed sequences of internal program logic by coding, testing, and debugging. Designs and maintains record keeping system as necessary. Provides technical advice to Internet content providers. Troubleshoots and resolves technical problems with the design and delivery of Internet services. Performs other duties as assigned.

Specialized Experience: For the GS-12, you must have one year of experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-11 in the Federal service. Experience for this position includes: Experience utilizing a major Content Management System such as Adobe Experience Manager (preferred), Drupal, WordPress; Experience performing application management of users, system performance, code, and patch updates, troubleshooting in a cloud or configuring cloud environments utilizing Amazon Web Services; and Experience configuring or troubleshooting Linux servers, using Web content management systems such as Adobe, Manager and Drupal. In addition to the above specialized experience, your resume must demonstrate one year of Information Technology (IT) related experience in the federal service or private or public sector demonstrating the following four competencies, as defined: Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. Education cannot be substituted for experience at this grade level. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer.
