About the Position: The Education Records Specialist will serve under the Director of Academic Administration at the Defense Language Institute, Foreign Language Center (DLIFLC). The mission of the DLIFLC is to educate, sustain, evaluate, and support foreign language specialists under the guidelines of the Defense Foreign Language Program, which provides the Department of Defense and other Federal agencies with linguists fully capable of supporting United States national interest worldwide.

Duties

Prepare academic transcripts for all current and former students and American Council of Education Credit by Exam Program. Update student record information in the student database and the Army Training Requirements and Resources System (ATRRS). Use arithmetic to verify data, make computations and compile findings for statistical analysis. Calculate lecture lab hours, appropriate credit assignments and Grade Point Averages. Manage enrollment status for all students at the Defense Language Institute (DLI). Respond to e-mails and telephone questions about faculty, student's record, transcript request procedures and processing status.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: applying academic and administrative policies to student processes such as enrollment changes, and transcripts; determine proper placement of enrollment using databases such as the Student Database System and the Army Training Resources Requirement System (ATRRS); calculate grade point averages, and resolve inquiries pertaining to student academic records and transcripts. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: ArithmeticCustomer Service (Clerical/Technical)Database AdministrationManages and Organizes Information Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).
