The Program Support Assistant (OA) is organizationally aligned under the Health Care for Homeless Veterans (HCHV) Continuum of Care/ Housing & Urban Development-VA Supportive Housing (HUD-VASH) Program located at the Health Care for Homeless Veterans-Grand Rapids Service Center. The position works within the Social Work Service.
Duties
The Program Support Assistant performs various secretarial, clerical, and administrative duties. In this capacity, the incumbent acts as a receptionist, reports coordinator, personnel clerk, and assists in a wide variety of administrative details necessary for the day-to-day operations of Health Care for Homeless Veterans-Grand Rapids Service Center. Duties also include, but not limited to the following:
Participating in team meetings to manage and plan patient care; setting priorities and deadlines; adjusting the flow and sequencing of the work to meet team and patient needs.
Performs administrative follow-up actions.
Provide coverage in other administrative areas of the Service/Program as required/necessary.
Maintains unscheduled appointments for program staff with various outpatients as needed for patient visits and other facility staff.
Responsible for the routine clerical, typing, copying and electronic record maintenance for these programs.
Develops and maintains individual program reports using, but not limited to, Excel, PowerPoint and Software Computer Packages which may include creating and compiling weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reports.
Maintains all Service-level Emergency Plans, as well as specified CARF Drills required for CARF accreditation.
Work Schedule: 8:00am-4:30pm, Monday-Friday
Telework: VA supports the use of telework as a way to help attract and retain talented individuals in public service, increase worker productivity, and better prepare the agency to operate during emergencies. This position may be authorized for Ad-hoc telework agreement. Telework eligibility will be discussed during the interview process.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 08/29/2023.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-05 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-04. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment.
You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-04 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Plans, implements, and evaluates administrative and technical support for multiple clinical sections plans, develops and executes a system for providing required reports for assigned clinical sections, provides clerical support for the assigned clinical sections, provides timekeeping for assigned clinical section. Must have clerical experience working in a medical office. NOTE: Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must clearly indicate the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment.. OR,
Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have successfully completed Four (4) years above high school or a Bachelor's Degree NOTE: Transcripts (unofficial or official) must be submitted with your application materials. Education cannot be credited without documentation. OR,
Combination: Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. You must have an combination of specialized experience and education beyond 4 full years above high school level. Note that at the GS-05 grade level only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours (commonly two years, if attending full-time) is applicable toward using education to qualify. Physical Requirements: The work is usually sedentary, but it typically requires walking, standing and bending, and may require carry of light items such as books, papers, instruments, lap tops, and other similar materials.
