About the Position: This position is located with the Alcohol and Substance Abuse Program Division, Directorate of Human Resources, Fort Stewart, GA.
Duties
Serves as a manager of the installation Suicide Prevention Program and Risk Reduction Program.
Analyzes data gathered in quarterly reports and Unit Risk Inventories (URIs) administered to the specific military unit being evaluated.
Develops and administers an installation-wide ASAP prevention and education program.
Designs special courses in response to identified ASAP trends and needs of the installation.
Develops or participates in the development of local policies, procedures and directives relating to PC, RRP, and SPPM.
Conducts leadership training programs in alcohol and drug abuse for troop commanders, platoon leaders, and senior NCOs.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI) Background Investigation is required.
- Temporary Duty Travel of 5% may be required.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Basic Requirement:
A. Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in behavioral or social science, or related disciplines appropriate to the position, such as Counseling, Social Work, Alcohol and Substance Abuse Programs. (Note: You must provide transcripts)
OR
B. Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. (Note: You must provide transcripts).
OR
C. Experience: Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.
In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes assisting in developing and administering an installation-wide ASAP prevention and education program to include goals and objectives; developing lesson plans for training conducted for the ASAP training program; and assisting in assessing high-risk behavior in the military unit. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).
OR
Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree with a major study in quality assurance, statistics, mathematics, production management, industrial management, computer science, engineering, engineering technology, physical sciences, textiles, or other fields related to the position. (Note: You must provide transcripts).

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-9).
