Duties

This position allows you to use your expertise in administration to provide advisory and technical services to CBP Management. This position starts at a salary of $58,049.00 (GS-9, Step 1) to $91,301.00 (GS-11, Step 10) with promotion potential to $91,301.00 (GS-11 Step 10). As a Mission Support Specialist (Generalist), you will plan and carry out a wide variety of mission support services related to the missions and functions of Mission Readiness Operations. Duties and responsibilities include: Providing local agency direction and facilitates the creating, accepting, modifying and transferring of personal property records in accordance with USBP directives Preparing special briefings and reports to management to foster understanding and acceptance of findings and recommendations for future staffing and placement, personnel management and other administrative operational needs Maintaining various reports, updates and provides updated information for the Agency's internal Table Organization (TO) tracker, monitoring tickler reports and the staffing table Preparing reports from internal data sources as well as Agency automated systems for regular and one-time informational needs by senior managers Contributing to the formulation and implementation of policies relating to the sector workforce management and position management policy, procedures and other matters affecting USBP workforce administrative programs

Experience: You qualify for the GS-9 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as: Providing support in a variety of human resources issues such as pay, overtime, leave entitlements, and administration Assisting with conducting inventories, records management, preparing briefing materials and various reports Assisting with fleet card program and maintenance, scheduling repairs of damaged vehicles, tracking mileage of fleet for scheduled service and safety inspections Coordinating bulk fuel deliveries, facility repairs, and changes to land-based telephone system Researching suppliers and working with requesters to procure goods/services Experience: You qualify for the GS-11 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as: Providing support on a wide range of concepts, laws, policies and practices assisting in contributing to management decisions for assigned program areas Preparing personnel status reports, summaries and briefings; verifying the accuracy and completeness of information Reviewing travel vouchers to ensure complete and correct; submitting travel vouchers for reimbursement in accordance with federal travel regulation Briefing management on various budget issues; recommending resolutions to budgetary issues Assisting with inventory or local property; assisting with facility needs and repairs; monitoring the progress of ongoing projects Processing and analyzing data obtained from financial reports; calculating projections for funding allocations; paying invoices in a timely manner; resolving vendor issues as needed NOTE: Your resume must explicitly indicate how you meet this requirement, otherwise you will be found ineligible. Education Substitution: GS-9: You may substitute a Master's degree or 2 full years of graduate education or a J.D or L.L.B. degree for experience required at the GS-9 grade level. Such education must have been obtained in an accredited college or university and demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. Check with your school to determine how many credit hours comprise two years of graduate education. If that information is not available, use 36 semester or 54 quarter hours. GS-11: A Ph.D. or an equivalent doctoral degree, three full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or an LL.M. degree from an accredited college or university may substitute for experience required at this level. (A course of study in business, international business, or a related field is qualifying.) Check with your school to determine how many credit hours comprise three years of graduate study. If that information is not available, use 54 semester or 81 quarter hours. Combining Education and Experience: To combine your education and experience, you must convert each to a percentage, and then add the percentages. The combined total of your percentage of education and experience must equal at least 100% in order to qualify. If your education is currently described in quarter hours, convert the quarter hours into semester hours by multiplying the quarter hours by the fraction 2/3. To calculate your percentage of graduate education, divide the number of graduate semester hours by 18. To determine your percentage of qualifying experience, you must divide your total number of months of qualifying experience by the required number of months of experience. Add your percentages of education and experience. The two percentages must total at least 100%. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. You must: Meet all qualification requirements, including education if applicable to this position, subject to verification at any stage of the application process; and Meet all applicable Time in Grade requirements (current federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade or equivalent grade band in the federal service) by 08/15/2023. The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees. Current and former federal employees may be required to serve or complete a probationary period.
