Program Support Assistant (OA)-Caregiver Support Program performs administrative and program analysis work and ensure program compliance for Veterans in the Caregiver Support Program (CSP). CSP is a clinical program that focuses on the needs of both the eligible Veteran/Servicemember and the eligible Primary and Secondary Family Caregivers.
Duties
The incumbent serves as the Program Support Assistant (PSA) in support of the Caregiver Support Coordinators (CSC) and other assigned multidisciplinary Caregiver Support program staff. The PSA aids the Caregiver Support Program in getting things accomplished through an extensive knowledge and understanding of the organization, regulations, methods, and the other tools or recourses of management.
.Duties include, but not limited to:
Maintains and posts time and attendance reports for CSP staff using the automated system and in accordance with established procedures; maintains leave calendar; and, posts projected leave to the calendar.
Audits and make corrections to invoices received from the program vendors and after audit, timely and efficiently process payments utilizing the VA Medical fee menu and electronically forward to Fiscal Services for payment.
Assists in the establishment and enrollment of Veterans and Caregiver into the CSP and acts as the liaison and provides coordination and collaboration of services with VA eligibility, travel, budget, non-VA care services and other departments throughout the VAMC Louisville system of care.
Ensures timely clinical response to patients/callers that potentially have an emergent or urgent care need through prompt identification of the problem and appropriate clinical referral while exercising mature judgement and diplomacy.
Manages fund control points for the CSP and may serve as a backup fund control clerk for the service. Maintains running balances and check balances against fund control point obligations and reconciles orders as received.
Designs studies, training programs and organizational strategies for identifying opportunities to improve customer service and quality processes.
Develops and prepares reports, briefings, special papers, and summaries from data about CGSP
gathered throughout the year.
All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 8/17/2023.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-07 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-06. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade.

Typing: Must type 40 words per minute
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-6 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: served as program assistant, secretary, administrative assistant responsible for providing administrative services to mid-level managers. Research, interpret and apply complex set of laws, rules, regulations and policies and explain policies to residents in basic terms; recognize and evaluate various medical situations, react appropriately and perform emergency medical treatment as needed and the ability to prioritize cases and prepare an emergency contingency plan; serves as Technical knowledge of computer software applications including CPRS/VISTA, Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint, etc.
