The Tibor Rubin VA Medical Center is recruiting for one (1) Electrician Supervisor. The primary purpose of the position is to perform primarily the duties of an Electrical Supervisor in the Electrician Unit.

Duties
Duties include but are not limited to:
The incumbent has a leadership role in providing management, guidance, and coordination for the repair, maintenance, and oversight of Electrician Unit assigned projects.
Has full supervisory authority over permanent, contract and staff assigned to the Electrician Unit. Works collaboratively with other facility departments to manage the repair, maintenance, or replacement of any electrical system required to support VHALBHS clinical and administrative operations.
Calls attention to issues that may arise requiring leadership intervention or correction.
Provides orientation and training for new staff. Keeps manager informed of the status of ongoing personnel actions.
Provides advice on solving complex electrical system-related problems.
Assures that all performance appraisals are completed in a timely fashion for all areas under the Electrician Unit.
Coordinates the electronic submission of all performance appraisals. Manages the department file for employee competency and assures that current competency assessments and performance appraisals are appropriately filed.
Determines requirements, reconnaissance, location, and prepares designs, specifications, and estimates.
Applies a broad knowledge of methods, precedents, and standards to significantly diverse and intense work complexities. Required to implement cutting edge technology and new facility environmental systems to improve patient outcomes.
This implementation requires a wide range of knowledge of concepts, principles, and practices outside their primary discipline.

EXPERIENCE: A specific length of training and experience is not required, but you must show evidence of training or experience of sufficient scope and quality of your ability to do the work of this position. Evidence which demonstrates you possess the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the duties of this position must be supported by detailed descriptions of such on your resume. Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Federal Wage System Qualification Standards.
SCREEN-OUT ELEMENT: Your qualifications will first be evaluated against the prescribed screen out element, which usually appears as question 1 in the on-line questionnaire. Those applicants who appear to possess at least the minimal acceptable qualification requirement are considered for further rating; those who do not are rated ineligible and are eliminated. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment.
Physical Requirements: Repairs and installations are made from ladders, scaffolding, platforms, and other hard-to-?reach places. This requires the incumbent to stand, stoop, bend, kneel, climb, and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions. The work requires frequently lifting and carrying of tools, equipment, and parts that weigh up to 20 pounds and, less often, up to 40 pounds.
Working Conditions: The work is performed both inside and outside. The incumbent is sometimes required to make repairs and installations in bad weather; in work areas that are noisy, dirty, dusty, and greasy; on scaffolding or cranes at heights of 30 feet or more; and in close quarters such as manholes and attics. Incumbent is occasionally exposed to the possibility of injury from falling, electrical shock, burns, and rotary devices such as electrical motors; and is frequently exposed to the possibility of cuts and bruises.
