This position is part of the Southwestern Indian Polytechnic Institute, Bureau of Indian Education (BIE). As a Accounting Technician you will be responsible for processing all financial transactions related to student account information such as fees, fee waivers, financial aid and disbursements.

Duties

As a Accounting TechnicianGS-0525-7, your typical work assignments may include the following: Encode financial transactions related to student account information in the financial management system. Communicate with costumers to receive payments for school related expenses from outside sources, document payments, issue receipts. Utilize the financial management system to track and document transactions in the student information system. Generate financial reports utilizing the financial management system and other software applications, when requested. Provide accurate account of all transactions processed for student accounts and funds received for such accounts.

Qualifications

Applicants must meet the qualification requirements contained in the OPM Standards. For this position, they are listed below. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. GS-07: 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-06 grade level in the federal service. Examples of specialized experience include receive student fees, distribute student financial aid, encode student payments in a student information system and generate reports using computer systems. Only experience obtained by the closing date of this announcement will be considered.

Education

This position does not have a positive education requirement at this grade level. Therefore, no transcripts are required.
